Sandy Hook has had a big impact. And it's heartbreaking when your kids come home from school and you have a conversation like this:
Addy - "Mom do you know what codes Yellow and Red are?"
Me
- "No"
Addy - "Code Yellow means there is a fox outside our school building and when
the intercom warns us, we are supposed to switch off the lights, stay quiet and
sit on the carpet so that the fox cannot see us"
Me
- "And Red?"
Addy - "Code Red means the fox is inside the building and is roaming around. We
are supposed to be quiet, switch off the lights, close the blinds and go inside the bathroom
with our teacher.
"And
mom during the drill, we all fit inside! But me and Elise were talking and she
said she doesn't want the fox to sniff her and i said if it does, me and
Savannah will shoo it off."
